Service Web 3.0 supports several education and training initiatives as listed below. IEEE Summer School on Semantic Computing The IEEE Summer School on Semantic Computing provides an introduction to the field for senior undergraduate and graduate students. A mix of young and well-established researchers and educators presented recent research results, as presented in the IEEE conferences on Semantic Computing or the International Journal on Semantic Computing. The tutorials are complemented with keynote talks by renowned experts in the areas of Semantic Technologies, Ontologies, Multimedia or Natural Language Processing. Semantic Web Service Winter Retreat The Semantic Web Service (SWS) Retreat is an intensive 5 day course, training existing and new researchers and practitioners in the field of Semantic Web Services, so as to encourage their participation in this growing field and to give them access to its top experts. The retreat brought together 20-30 students and 10 tutors, allowing the participants to immerse themselves within the community and to interact on a one-to-one level with established researchers to gain deeper insights and clarity. The last SWS Winter Retreat was held from March 1-7, 2009 in Seefeld, Austria. More info. The event was recorded by Videolectures.net and The Open University has provided Podcasts from the event. The presentations can be found here.
6th Summer School on Ontological Engineering and the Semantic Web (SSSW 2008) The 6th Summer School on Ontological Engineering and the Semantic Web (SSSW 2008) was presented by leading researchers in the field of Semantic Web. It represented an opportunity for postgraduate students to equip themselves with the range of theoretical, practical, and collaboration skills necessary for full engagement with the challenges involved in developing Ontologies and Semantic Web applications. The Summer School on Ontological Engineering and the Semantic Web took place on July 6-12, 2008 in Cercedilla, Spain. More info.
4th Summer School organized by the Berufsakademie Heidenheim and Poznan University of Economics 4th Edition of the BA/PUE Summer School during which the participants had a chance to familiarize themselves with the business processes with the focus on the trust and security related issues in Semantic Business Process Management. The participants attending the classes were students coming from both institutions i.e. BA and PUE. For Polish students participation in the Summer School was connected with a three months apprenticeship in German companies. This Summer School was held from September 19-22, 2008 in Heidenheim, Germany The 2nd Asian Semantic Web School (ASWS 2008) The 2nd Asian Semantic Web School has thought its attendees how to apply semantic technologies in their own projects and environments. The school was targeted at PhD students, young researchers and other interested parties affiliated to academia or industry. The school brought together international experts in the field especially from leading research groups in Asia to be part of the program. The Semantic Web School took place on December 8-12, 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand. More info. STI International Education Service - Semsphere The STI International educational service is establishing a training and certification program under the name Semsphere. Semsphere will target IT professionals and those seeking globally recognizable expertise and credentials in the field of semantic technologies. The program is endorsed and developed by the leading experts of the semantic technology community; it will then evaluated and maintained by certified trainers and IT professionals in order to ensure state-of-the-art topics areincluded, and course materials meet high-quality, professional standards. The program will include three fundamental certifications in semantic technologies, extended with specialized curriculums and tailored education courses covering in-depth topics such as tools, languages, techniques, and application domains. We plan to offer on-site education courses, as well as podcasts lectures, interactive webinars, online support materials, and examinations in order to reach a broad, worldwide audience. More info. Repository of European Association of Semantic Education REASE is a learning material repository which was set up by the NoE KnowledgeWeb and hosted by the University of Hannover.
